Tyler Maxson completed a weekend sweep in Mustang Challenge by beating Robert Noaker to victory in Race 2 at Watkins Glen.
Maxson’s No. 74 Ford Mustang Dark Horse R led Noaker’s No. 13 machine across the line by just 0.320 seconds to win during the second and final race of the weekend on Saturday morning.
Reid Sweeney came home in third place behind the wheel of the No. 31 Ford to complete a podium sweep for Robert Noaker Racing.
Sam Paley finished fourth despite a ten-second penalty applied after contact with Jeremy Fletcher that resulted in the race’s first and only Full Course Yellow.
Paley touched the rear of Fletcher’s No. 22 McCumbee McAleer Racing Ford exiting Turn 7, which pitched him into the barriers and forced him to retire from the contest.
However, Paley remained far enough clear of the No. 2 Ford of Max Opalski to retain fourth place even after the penalty was applied.
Opalski, in turn, charged from the back of the grid to complete the top five after he lost his times in qualifying when the car was found to be running excess camber during post-session technical inspection.
The No. 2 car finished one place ahead of Dark Horse Legends class winner Zachry Lee, who also completed a weekend sweep behind the wheel of the No. 48 McCumbee McAleer Racing machine.
Gabe Tesch finished seventh for MDK Motorsports, with Alex Bachoura eighth overall and second in the Legends category.
Similarly to Opalski, Bachoura’s No. 33 car also started from the back of the grid after a post-qualifying penalty, but finished ahead of D.J. Randall and Stephen Vento, who completed the top ten.
