Trenton Estep led the way in the opening day of track action for Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by The Cayman Islands on the streets of Toronto.

The MDK Motorsports driver posted the second quickest time in Friday’s opening practice session on the 1.786-mile street circuit before improving to a best lap of 1:11.935 in the afternoon.

Estep, who is searching for his first series victory, edged out fellow Pro class competitor Riley Dickinson in the No. 53 Kelly-Moss Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car by 0.265 seconds.

Points leader Kay van Berlo was third on the time charts in his No. 3 Porsche, meanwhile, followed by Canadian Parker Thompson in the No. 9 JDX Racing entry.

Travis Wiley completed the top-five for Topp Racing, meanwhile.

Times tumbled in the 30-minute afternoon session after the single-make series were effectively street-sweepers in the morning, which saw the No. 43 MDK Porsche of Jeff Kingsley top the time charts.

All 17 cars taking part this weekend improved on their best times from the morning.

Efrin Castro was quickest in Pro-Am in his Kelly-Moss entry while Wright Motorsports’ John Goetz posted the quickest time in the Am class.

Qualifying is scheduled to get underway Saturday at 9:10 a.m. ET with Race 1 set for a 3:35 p.m. start with live coverage on Peacock, IMSA.tv and PorscheCarreraCup.us.
