Mustang Challenge runner-up Tyler Maxson will make the switch to Porsche Carrera Cup North America this year, having signed with Topp Racing Performance for the 2025 season.

The 20-year-old rising sports car racing star will pilot one of the team’s Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race cars in the single-make series, which kicks off next month at Sebring International Raceway.

“I’ve had success in several prestigious series, but now, my full attention is on the Porsche Carrera Cup in 2025,” said Maxson. “I’m focused, determined, and ready to take on this challenge head-on.”

Topp Racing founder and president Todd Oppermann added: “We were impressed with Tyler’s natural driving abilities and his quick adaptation to the Porsche program.

“After learning of his interest, it was an easy decision to bring him into our testing.

“Tyler quickly got up to speed and provided valuable feedback that helped us optimize the car. His performance was impressive, and I’m confident he’ll be a strong contender for race wins, podium finishes, and the championship in 2025.”
