Tyler Maxson will start this afternoon’s opening Porsche Carrera Cup North America race from the pole after clearing the field by nearly one second in qualifying at Watkins Glen International.

The Pro class points leader aboard the No. 77 Topp Racing Porsche 911 Cup car reeled off a chart-topping 1:45.949 lap time, outrunning Thursday’s pace-setter, Janne Stiak by 0.846 seconds.

Stiak made a late session improvement in his No. 40 ACI Motorsports Porsche, bumping the No. 71 Kellymoss entry of Paul Bocuse to third on the grid.

Callum Hedge (JDX Racing) and Aaron Jeansonne (Kellymoss) completed the top-five overall and in Pro.

Masters class pole honors went to the No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche of Scott Blind, who will start Race 1 from an impressive tenth overall.

Blind outran the Pro-Am pole-sitter Patrick Mulcachy by more than seven-tenths.

Race 1 of the weekend gets underway at 3 p.m. EST this afternoon, with live coverage on Peacock as well as IMSA and Porsche Motorsport North America’s YouTube channels.
