Qualifying for Saturday’s Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by The Cayman Islands has been canceled due to heavy thunderstorms at Road America, with the first 45-minute race of the weekend to line up on points.

Road America went to ground stop moments prior to the 3:30 p.m. CT scheduled start of qualifying due to lightning in the area, which was followed by a heavy wave of thunderstorms descending upon the four-mile Wisconsin circuit.

Kay van Berlo will therefore start from the top spot in his No. 3 Kelly-Moss Road & Race Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, ahead of teammate Seb Priaulx in second.

Parker Thompson and Leh Keen will make up the second row of the grid, with Riley Dickinson and TJ Fisher completing the top-six.

Pro-Am will see class championship leader Alan Metni start from first, ahead of Team Hardpoint EBM’s Efrin Castro.

Pro-Am 991, for previous-generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup machinery, meanwhile, will have Matt Halcome lead a Goldcrest Motorsports 1-2-3 in class.

Race 1 is scheduled to get underway Saturday at 12:35 p.m. ET with live coverage on PorscheCarreraCup.us, Trackpass on NBC Sports Gold and IMSA.tv.
