Thompson Storms to Indy Pole

Parker Thompson takes pole for first race at Porsche Sports Car Together Fest…

Parker Thompson has stormed to pole position for this afternoon’s Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by The Cayman Islands race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Thompson reeled off a best lap of 1:25.092 in his No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car to edge out the Pro class points-leading No. 3 Kelly-Moss entry of Kay van Berlo by 0.007 seconds.

Friday pace-setter Riley Dickinson will start Race 1 from third on the grid, ahead of the No. 91 MDK Motorsports Porsche of Matty Graham.

Trenton Estep completed the top-five overall and in class in his MDK Porsche.

Pro-Am class pole honors went to the No. 65 Kelly-Moss entry of Efrin Castro, who set the 13th quickest time overall. Alan Metni (Kelly-Moss) and Curt Swearingin (ACI Motorsports) completed the top-three in class.

Mark Kvamme took another pole in the Am class in his MDK entry.

Four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon, meanwhile, qualified 22nd overall out of the 33 cars that took part in qualifying in his Hendrick Performance Group-entered Porsche.

Race 1 gets underway at 3:15 p.m. ET with live coverage on PorscheCarreraCup.us and IMSA.tv.
