Van Berlo Scores Fifth Pole of Season in Close Battle

Kay van Berlo will start today’s Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by The Cayman Islands race from the pole after narrowly edging out teammate Riley Dickinson for the top spot in qualifying at Watkins Glen International.

The Dutchman reeled off a best lap of 1:47.151 in his No. 3 Kelly-Moss Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car to end up just 0.040 seconds quicker than Dickinson in the 30-minute session.

Van Berlo, who leads the Pro class championship, is seeking his fifth win of the season.

Parker Thompson, the only other driver to claim Pro class victories this year, qualified third in his No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche, ahead of the No. 6 MDK Motorsports entry of Trenton Estep.

The No. 12 311RS Motorsport Porsche of Leh Keen completed the top-five.

Alan Metni stormed to the Pro-Am class pole with the eighth quickest time overall in his No. 99 Kelly-Moss Porsche while Mark Kvamme set the pace in the Am class in his No. 43 MDK Porsche.
