Former Prototype Technology Group team owner Tom Milner has joined Panoz Racing as it new manager and will spearhead development of Panoz’s new GT4-spec racing program.

The 40-year motorsports veteran, who had retied from the sport in 2013, rejoins the Don Panoz-owned company after having developed and run the Panoz Abruzzi in 2010-11, along with previously campaigning Panoz Esperantes in American Le Mans Series competition with his PTG team.

Milner will be tasked with developing the new Panoz Avezzano race car for GT4 competition.

“I’m happy to be working again with my good friend Don Panoz,” Milner said. “Our goal is simple: prepare the best Avezzano GT race car we can, put together a program that will make Panoz and its fans proud, and have some fun while we’re at it.”

The company has not yet announced the race series which the Avezzano will compete in, nor the timescale for the program’s launch.

The road-going variant was launched during last month’s Petit Le Mans and was also on display at the Atlanta Concours d’Elegance at Château Élan in Braselton, Ga.

“We are examining the series opportunities here in North America as well as in Europe and elsewhere and will share that decision down the road,” Milner said.
