BMW M Motorsport has teased the design of its new M4-based GT4 car which is set to make its global customer racing debut in 2023.

The German manufacturer shared a render of its next-generation GT4-class racer on Tuesday, as it embarks on an “intensive” test program moving into next year.

A BMW spokesperson told Sportscar365 that the first test has been undertaken by factory driver Jens Klingmann, while the car will be revealed in the “middle of 2022”.

The image shows most of the rear and the full left side of the vehicle, which is being produced from the G82 variant of the M4 production model.

BMW M Motorsport director Mike Krack revealed the development of a new BMW GT4 car to replace the current F82-generation M4 in an October interview with Sportscar365.

The current F82 version has been active in global GT4 competition since 2018.
