Emil Frey Racing has announced a switch to Ferrari 296 GT3 machinery following a four-year stint with Lamborghini.

The Swiss squad began campaigning Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evos in 2019, winning the International GT Open title prior to a return to Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS the following year.

In addition to running in the SRO Motorsports Group-run championship, the team expanded into ADAC GT Masters, winning the teams’ title in 2022.

Its program for this year has yet to be announced.

“From October 2022, we as the Emil Frey Group have been authorized to represent the Ferrari brand in Munich,” explained team principal Lorenz Frey-Hilti.

“We are pleased to be able to work together with Ferrari in racing as well. We have little time left before the start of the season.

“However, with the brand-new Ferrari 296 GT3 and our long experience in GT3 we are confident to be well prepared until our first race.”

Frey-Hilti, meanwhile, has thanked Lamborghini for the “trust and good cooperation” over its time with the Italian manufacturer.

Emil Frey Racing became a Lamborghini customer squad four years ago after previously running GT3 programs with Lexus and Jaguar machinery – the latter being developed by the company in-house.

During its tenure with the Huracan GT3 Evo, the team rose to become a Pro outfit in GTWC Europe, running factory drivers in its lineups and earning two overall podiums in Endurance Cup.

Emil Frey also claimed a hat-trick of the available 2021 Silver Cup class titles covering the Endurance, Sprint and combined championships.
