Former Marc VDS Racing Team technical director Sebastien Metz has joined Onroak Automotive to head up management of its LMP2 development.

Metz, who was a driving force behind VDS’ success in GT3 racing and close link with BMW, will oversee Onroak’s Le Mans facility which is devoted to the construction and development of LMP2 cars.

Onroak’s Le Mans team currently produces the Ligier JS P2, but has also been selected as one of four LMP2 constructors for 2017, with work already beginning on the new-generation Ligier.

“It’s a new step in my professional career,” Metz said. “Joining a sports-prototype constructor involved in the major endurance events is a dream that’s finally come true.

“I’m really excited about this job and I can’t wait to take up this new challenge; it’s a great opportunity to begin working with Onroak Automotive, which has scored some great results, and is currently achieving on-going success in endurance racing worldwide.”

Onroak Automotive President Jaques Nicolet added: “We’re getting busier and busier and we need to beef up our staff.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Sébastien Metz to our team. I’m counting on his experience and his professionalism to work with us on all the on-going projects and manage the Le Mans facility.”
