Mercedes-AMG has released on-track testing images of its new GT concept car after first teasing the car in the summer.

The Stuttgart manufacturer first showed the new car, named the ‘Concept AMG GT Track Sport’ with a number of heavily camouflaged teaser images in July, stating at the time that it was providing “an exclusive glimpse into the future of the AMG GT family.”

On Tuesday, the brand followed this up with new imagery as the car has started an “intensive testing phase” at an undisclosed circuit.

Mercedes-AMG went on to state that the car sports “a further optimized weight balance, AMG-typical V8 drive technology, and a sophisticated aerodynamic architecture.”

Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes‑AMG GmbH, said: “With the Concept AMG GT Track Sport, we are once again exploring the limits of what is possible.

“We have a world-class team working on this concept with incomparable AMG spirit. It takes us to the physical and driving dynamics limit. We have a vision and make a promise: The future will be extreme.”

Mercedes-AMG offered no further details regarding the car, although the brand is known to be working on a successor of its current GT3 platform that initially debuted in 2016.

Since then, the Mercedes-AMG has gone on to achieve significant success worldwide. It received an Evo update in 2020 and is still active in the FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Intercontinental GT Challenge as well as a number of continental and domestic championships around the globe.

The brand’s next GT3 challenger is being developed by Mercedes-AMG’s Affalterbach Racing GmbH subsidiary, which was first established last year.

The new car is understood to be based on a derivative of its two-door Mercedes-AMG GT road car range, the most recent generation of which was introduced in 2023.
