The FIA has released its first draft of driver rating changes ahead of next year, with several key drivers having had their status upgraded, downgraded, or a change denied after being under review.
The adjustments, which would go to into effect on Jan. 1, but not be applicable for the Asian Le Mans Series, which runs to a winter schedule, would impact several current lineups in top-level sports car racing.
Among the drivers to have received upgrades from Silver to Gold include TF Sport’s Jonny Edgar, Porsche Motorsport North America Selected driver Loek Hartog, Kenton Koch of Random Vandals Racing and Triarsi Competizione, Verstappen dot com standout Chris Lulham, and DXDT Racing’s Alec Udell.
Notable downgrades include Bill Auberlen (Gold to Silver), Jarett Andretti (Silver to Bronze), Felipe Fernandez Laser (Gold to Silver), Misha Goikberg (Silver to Bronze) and Owen Trinkler (Silver to Bronze).
Several rising stars, meanwhile, have provisionally retained their much-coveted Silver rating, including Hunter McElrea, Lorenzo Patrese, Benjamin Pedersen, Nico Pino, Toby Sowery, Parker Thompson, as well as MotoGP legend-turned BMW M Motorsport factory driver Valentino Rossi.
A finalized list is expected to be released before the end of the year.
