Lamborghini has announced its roster of factory drivers for the 2022 season and confirmed the departure of Giovanni Venturini after an eight-year stint with the brand.

Venturini, 30, departs Lamborghini after representing the manufacturer in a variety of GT racing competitions since 2014.

Last year the Italian raced in Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, sharing a K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo with Corey Lewis.

Lamborghini’s squad of seven retained factory drivers for the 2022 season consists of Giacomo Altoe, Mirko Bortolotti, Andrea Caldarelli, Albert Costa, Marco Mapelli, Sandy Mitchell and Franck Perera. There have been no additions to the lineup since last year.

“I am proud and satisfied with the results achieved last season and the fundamental contribution made by our factory drivers,” said Lamborghini’s Head of Motorsport Giorgio Sanna.

“Our objectives for 2022 are to confirm our leadership in the championships where we’ve already achieved success, to reach the goals that have eluded us thus far, and to be competitive right away in the new challenges that await us.

“I am confident that the qualities of the Huracan GT3 Evo, combined with the talent of our drivers, will give us plenty of satisfaction.

“Finally, our best wishes and good luck to Giovanni Venturini, a Factory Driver for eight years, to whom we extend the thanks of the entire Squadra Corse division.”

All factory drivers except Costa are driving for Lamborghini customer teams in the Rolex 24 at Daytona this weekend.

Bortolotti and Caldarelli took pole in the new GTD Pro class by winning last Sunday’s 100-minute qualifying race for TR3 Racing.
