Cheng and rising French star Thomas Laurent handled driving duties of the Onroak Automotive-built LMP3 car Monday at Magny-Cours, completing roughly 200 miles in the brand-new car.
Ho-Pin Tung will join fellow defending series champion Cheng for the entire four-round championship, with 17-year-old Laurent, a former world karting champion, slated as a third driver for the three remaining races.
DC Racing will be carrying backing from the Jackie Chan Film Academy, with the actor/martial arts expert set to play a role within the newly formed Chinese squad.
“Jackie loves motorsport and he knows Le Mans. It’s with great satisfaction to have him on our side,” Cheng told Endurance-Info.
Cheng, meanwhile, was satisfied with his first laps in the LMP3 car. “The JS P3 is a fantastic car. It’s actually a small LMP2 but in some ways it’s even better than a LMP2.”
The team will receive technical assistance from Eurasia Motorsport.
