A date for the Asian Le Mans Series’ first race in Australia has been set, with a round at The Bend Motorsport Park scheduled for Jan. 10-12 next year.

That weekend is the date which has been held by the Buriram round in Thailand in recent seasons, suggesting that the South Australia track, could replace Buriram on the 2019-20 schedule.

The date was agreed a few days ago after a meeting between Asian LMS managing director Cyrille Taesch-Wahlen and The Bend managing director Sam Shahin.

Asian LMS organizers announced last month that the series would expand to include an Australian round for the first time next season.

The current season has had races in China, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia.

The full 2019-20 Asian LMS schedule will be released at a later date, while the current season draws to a close next weekend with the Four Hours of Sepang.
