G-Drive Racing will make its Asian Le Mans Series debut this winter with an Aurus 01 Gibson run by long-time series entrant Algarve Pro Racing.

The Portuguese-based team will campaign the G-Drive entry, which is set to be driven by Roman Rusinov, Leonard Hoogenboom and James French.

It will mark the first time that the Russian G-Drive and Aurus brands have been represented in the Asian Le Mans Series after several years of Rusinov’s programs competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series and 24 Hours of Le Mans.

G-Drive finished runner-up in the ELMS standings this year with its Aurus-badged Oreca 07 Gibson campaigned by TDS Racing.

“It’s good to be doing some racing during the winter months, because you don’t usually get many opportunities,” said Rusinov.

“That’s one of the main reasons why Algarve Pro Racing’s proposal to enter the Asian Le Mans Series was so interesting.

“I’m happy that we’ve been able to put this programme together so quickly and I’m looking forward to visiting cool countries like Thailand, Australia and Malaysia.

“I’m also pleased to be part of another Automobile Club de l’Ouest series and I believe we will have the package to fight for some results, although the priority is to gain good experience and stay fresh for 2020.”
