Alessio Rovera set the fastest time in the second and final Free Practice session for the Asian Le Mans Series season opener at the Sepang International Circuit.

The Italian driver reeled off a best lap of 1:54.046 behind the wheel of the No. 83 AF Corse Oreca 07 Gibson, deep within the final 30 minutes of the session, to go quickest.

Rovera’s quickest lap came not long after an earlier time of 1:54.149 that had already been enough to drop CrowdStrike Racing by APR driver Colin Braun from first to second place.

The No. 4 Oreca, which had gone quickest in the opening Practice session on Friday afternoon, ultimately ended the session in fourth after late improvements from both 99 Racing’s Louis Deletraz and the No. 90 TF Sport entry in the hands of Charlie Eastwood.

Duqueine Team completed the top five with its No. 30 car driven by Oliver Rasmussen, ahead of DKR Engineering and Proton Competition.

CD Sport topped the LMP3 class thanks to a best lap of 2:00.235 by Fabien Lavergne, who shares the No. 2 Ligier JS P320 Nissan with Nick Adcock and Michael Jensen.

Martin Konrad steered the No. 7 Al Manar Racing by GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to a best lap of 2:04.901 to lead the GT category, with the top six entirely occupied by German machinery.

The No. 56 Team Project 1 BMW M4 GT3 slotted into second thanks to Maxime Oosten, ahead of Pure Rxcing’s No. 91 Porsche 911 GT3 R and the No. 9 GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG.

A pair of Audis from Attempto Racing and Sainteloc Racing took fifth and sixth, with Riccardo Pera seventh behind the wheel of the No. 86 GR Racing Ferrari 296 GT3.

With Free Practice completed, focus now turns to qualifying on Saturday at 9:50 a.m. local time (Friday 8:50 p.m. EDT).

RESULTS: Free Practice 2
