The 4 Hours of Mugello has been red-flagged in the third hour after a significant crash involving Claudio Schiavoni and Rahel Frey.

Schiavoni’s No. 60 Proton Competition Porsche 911 GT3 R was running in front of the Frey-driven No. 85 Iron Dames Porsche shortly after the third safety car restart.

Frey then made contact with the Italian in a seeming attempt to pass on the run down to Turn 1, pitching the No. 60 Porsche into the wall at high speed.

Although the car suffered significant damage, Schiavoni walked away from the crash under his own power.

An initial safety car, the fourth of the race, was subsequently upgraded to a red flag.

The race is currently led overall by the No. 9 Iron Lynx-Proton Oreca 07 Gibson in the hands of Maceo Capietto, leading Inter Europol Competition and Panis Racing.

LMP2 Pro-Am and LMP3 is led by the No. 29 Richard Mille by TDS Oreca and the No. 11 Eurointernational Ligier JS P320 Nissan, respectively.

The pole-sitting No. 97 Grid Motorsport by TF Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo leads LMGT3 in the hands of Jonny Adam.

Race control has stated that the race is expected to resume at 2:20 p.m. CEST (8:20 a.m. EDT).

Additionally, the race is set to be extended by 20 minutes and will now finish at 3:50 p.m. local time.
