Dutch GP2 driver Daniël de Jong made his LMP2 debut at the wheel of the Eurasia Motorsport Oreca 03R Nissan at Zandvoort today.
The 23-year-old Dutchman joined the team’s regular drivers Nick de Bruijn and Pu Jun Jin in a one-day test at the Dutch circuit.
De Jong is the latest GP2 driver to sample a Le Mans Prototype, having competed in the GP2 Series for the last three seasons.
“After three years in GP2 it is time for the next step. Formula One would be the logical next step, but I’m not sure whether I would like that. It would cost a lot of money and you’ll be racing for P15,” De Jong said.
“LMP2 looks great and several GP2 drivers have gone there already, so this was the perfect opportunity to test one.”
Eurasia Motorsport uses MP Motorsport’s workshop for their European campaing, the GP2 team owned by de Jong’s father. With changes in single-seater racing the team is also considering options outside GP2.
