Formula 2 podium-finisher Louis Deletraz and reigning Asian Le Mans Series champion Yifei Ye will partner Robert Kubica in Team WRT’s European Le Mans Series squad.

WRT announced on Tuesday that Swiss racer Deletraz and Chinese driver Ye will join the previously-announced Kubica in the lineup of the No. 41 Oreca 07 Gibson for the six-round 2021 ELMS campaign which is due to start in April.

Deletraz finished fourth on his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut last year driving for Rebellion Racing in LMP1 but has never raced in LMP2 before, with the virtual exception of a winning performance in last June’s Le Mans esports edition.

The 23-year-old also contested the 2020 Total 24 Hours of Spa with Porsche squad GPX Racing, in addition to his full-time role in Formula 2 with the Charouz team.

Ye, 20, is set for his ELMS debut after gaining his first experience of the LMP2 class during the four-round Asian LMS campaign held across Dubai and Abu Dhabi last month.

The former Renault Sport Academy driver won the Euroformula Open championship last year before switching to sports cars.

His signing with Team WRT for the ELMS season comes four days after the Belgian squad announced Ye’s Asian LMS co-champion Ferdinand Habsburg in its FIA World Endurance Championship LMP2 squad alongside Charles Milesi and Robin Frijns.

Ye and Habsburg’s other G-Drive teammate Rene Binder is competing in the 2021 ELMS with Duqueine Team.

“Once again, we have combined talent, youth and experience to compose a lineup,” said WRT team principal Vincent Vosse.

“What really strikes in our trio for the ELMS is that it is composed of drivers that we really wanted to work with since some time and that have in common a tremendous commitment and motivation for what they do.

“I am convinced we have one of the top line-ups and can’t wait to be in Barcelona for the pre-season tests.”
