Tockwith Motorsport’s Ligier JS P217 Gibson will carry Gulf colors for the remainder of the year, beginning with next month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, the British squad has announced.

The iconic blue and orange livery will appear on the team’s LMP2 car, to be driven by Nigel Moore, Phil Hanson and Karun Chandhok at Le Mans, as well as additional European Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship races the team plans to contest.

“It’s an extremely exciting development for TMS and we are delighted to be carrying the iconic blue and orange in the year when Gulf is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its first ever participation at Le Mans,” said team principal Simon Moore.

“Like many, I grew up, watching and loving GT40s, 917s, Mirages and McLarens sporting Gulf colors and we hope to add our own small chapter to Gulf’s long racing history.”

The Tockwith entry joins Gulf Racing’s GTE-Am class Porsche 911 RSR in running the iconic colors in top-level sports car racing this year.

“This new agreement with Tockwith Motorsport will give an added dimension to our endurance motorsport program throughout the 2017 season,” said Gulf Oil International Global Vice President of Marketing, Vicki Kipling.

“Having two cars racing in Gulf colours at Le Mans – one in GTE Am and now a car in LMP2 is great news for the many Gulf guests coming to Le Mans, as well as Gulf enthusiasts everywhere.”
