SORA Racing looks set to become the latest manufacturer to offer a LMP3 car for next year, having revealed intentions to make its Pescarolo 02 Coupe available to the new-for-2015 junior prototype platform. (En Français)

The French constructor, which offers open and closed-top versions of its prototype, recently saw the new FIA CN2-spec car debut in the French VdeV Endurance Series.

It was the first manufacturer to introduce a coupe design in VdeV and is now awaiting on the final regulations from the ACO to see what modifications, if any, will be necessary to adapt the Pescarolo 02 for LMP3 competition next year.

“Speedreams Racing operates the first car designed by SORA Racing,” said designer Jean-Philippe Perrirer. “The Pescarolo 02 Coupe debuted at LeMans but the weather did not help. Luckily, we had [Christophe] Tinseau in the car.

“Since the introduction of the 02 Coupe, there have been a lot of changes made. The Paul Ricard meeting went without any problems or concerns about completing a 6-hour race.”

A manufacturers meeting for LMP3 constructors was held in Le Mans on Tuesday, with several sources indicating that the spec engine could either be a V6 or a V8-based production powerplant, with complete turn-key cars cost-capped between $200-245,000.

The new class will be introduced into both the European and Asian Le Mans Series beginning next year. More information is expected to be released from the ACO in the coming days.
