FIA World Endurance Championship squad Racing Team Nederland will add a European Le Mans Series round to its schedule, having confirmed its participation in the 4 Hours of Monza in July.

The Dutch team will field its Oreca 07 Gibson for Frits van Eerd and Guido van der Garde for the July 10-11 event, one week prior to the WEC race at the famed Italian circuit.

The TDS-run operation kicked off its 2021 campaign at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and will be joined by Job van Uitert for the full six-round WEC season that begins at Spa later this month.

Its entry for the Monza ELMS race is understood to have been made to gain experience of the circuit ahead of WEC’s maiden race appearance at the home of the F1 Italian Grand Prix.

Sportscar365 believes that several other WEC teams are evaluating similar tactics given the timing of the two events.

The ELMS season kicks off this weekend in Barcelona.
