TDS Leads Wet ELMS FP1 at Silverstone

Mathias Beche was fastest in the first Free Practice session for the European Le Mans Series at Silverstone, in the No. 46 Oreca 05 Nissan of Thiriet by TDS Racing.

In wet conditions, the session ran for 90 minutes around the Northamptonshire circuit. Another session is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. local time.

With a best laptime of 2:08.679, Beche led the Greaves Motorsport Ligier JS P2 of Julien Canal by 0.555 seconds. The two SMP Racing BR01s were next on the timesheet, with Stefano Coletti ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi.

G-Drive Racing occupied fifth on the scoreboard, while DragonSpeed were sixth, in the Gibson 015S and Oreca 05 respectively.

The LMP3 leader was Dino Lunardi, in Duqeine Engineering’s No. 19 Ligier JS P3. His best time was at 2:13.329, ahead of Alex Brundle in the United Autosports entry by 0.499 seconds.

Sean Rayhall and the Graff crew are third, albeit over a second slower than Brundle. Fourth position went to the other United Autosports car, driven by Wayne Boyd.

It was Andrew Howard and the Beechdean Aston Martin Racing team out front in GTE.

The Briton’s best time in the Aston Martin V8 Vantage was a 2:21.752, which put him ahead of Michael Hedlund in the Proton Competition car by 0.320 seconds.

Road Goethe was third for the other Aston Martin entry, while Gianluca Roda put the second Proton Porsche 911 RSR into fourth.

Frédéric Sausset was the only driver to take to the track in the SRT41 By OAK Racing entry, and set a flying lap of 2:20.182.

The only car not to set a time was the AF Corse No. 55 entry, while JMW Motorsport hit problems and so couldn’t set a fast time.
