Two-time FIA World Endurance GT champion Nicki Thiim will drive for Danish team GMB Motorsport in the European Le Mans Series this year.

The Aston Martin factory driver will share an Aston Martin Vantage GTE with Jens Reno Moller and Gustav Birch, creating an all-Danish lineup for the six-round season.

Thiim replaces Danish TCR champion Kasper H. Jensen, who will shift his 2023 program focus to national racing in Denmark.

GMB Motorsport is stepping up to ELMS this year after winning the Michelin Le Mans Cup GT3 title with its Honda program.

It will also make its 24 Hours of Le Mans debut with the Aston Martin, however GMB still has a seat open for that race because Thiim will be otherwise engaged in his full-time FIA World Endurance Championship drive with NorthWest AMR.

“Nicki is without a doubt one of Danish racing’s most successful and experienced drivers, and it’s a giant scoop to be able to associate ourselves with a talent of that caliber,” said sporting director Henrik Lundgaard.

“He has a long list of impressive titles in his trunk, and we hope to give him the opportunity to extend that list while with us, as this addition hopefully brings us closer to title contention in this year’s ELMS.

“Besides increasing our chances for victory, Nicki will bring a lot of experience to our young team, who will be trying the GTE class for the first time.”
