Van Uitert Joins G-Drive, Vergne Return Confirmed

Job van Uitert has joined G-Drive Racing for the upcoming European Le Mans Series season and 24 Hours of Le Mans, joining returnees Jean-Eric Vergne and Roman Rusinov.

The young Dutchman scored the ELMS LMP3 title last season driving for RLR Msport in his rookie year in sports car racing.

He effectively replaces Andrea Pizzitola in the G-Drive Oreca 07 Gibson which is run by French outfit TDS Racing.

Rusinov and Pizzitola locked up the ELMS LMP2 championship in 2018 while Vergne, now the reigning ABB FIA Formula E Champion, finished second after missing the opening round at Circuit Paul Ricard.

They also won their class on track at Le Mans before they were stripped of their win after a non-compliant part was found in both TDS cars’ fuel restrictors.

“This is a dream come true, that much is clear”, said van Uitert. “G-Drive has won the European Le Mans Series three times now as well as taking the FIA WEC crown once.

“On top of that they are the benchmark at Le Mans so this is without doubt the best place for me to continue my career, a place where Iwill race for victories.

“With Jean-Eric and Roman, the team has a super-solid basis and I will do everything I can to add to that and be successful.”

G-Drive will enter the Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps WEC round in May as a precursor to Le Mans, in addition to the full six-round ELMS schedule.
