AWA has revealed a special, one-off livery to mark the team’s debut in next month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
As previously reported by Sportscar365, the No. 13 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R will be decked out in a predominantly red color scheme, complete with maple leafs, to pay tribute to the team’s Canadian heritage.
The Andrew Wojteczko-led squad is one of the first Canadian teams to contest Le Mans in recent memory, having secured its place on the grid after Bronze-rated driver Orey Fidani won the Bob Akin Award in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship last year.
“This is more than just a race for us; it’s an opportunity to represent our country in front of the world,” said Fidani, who will share the No. 13 Corvette with Lars Kern and Matt Bell.
“Wearing Canada’s colors at Le Mans is an incredible honor, and we’ll be pushing hard to make our fellow Canadians proud.
“There will be no feeling quite like seeing that maple leaf drive down the Mulsanne Straight at over 300 km/h.”
AWA recently shook down its Le Mans chassis at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park before the car was air-freighted to the UK to be fitted with the required, FIA World Endurance Championship-specific components.
At Le Mans, team will receive support from WEC regulars TF Sport, which itself also fields a pair of Corvettes in the LMGT3 class as well as a car in the LMP2 Pro-Am category.
