The BMW M8 GTE has continued its testing and development program, with the new-for-2018 car having completed a test at Circuit de Catalunya last week.
Factory drivers Martin Tomczyk, Nicky Catsburg and Bruno Spengler joined Philipp Eng, who handled the car’s initial rollout and first multi-day test at the Lausitzring last month.
The German manufacturer has ramped up its testing program ahead of the FIA’s Balance of Performance test at Ladoux in September, which essentially locks in the car’s GTE homologation.
Drivers for the dual-series program, which will see factory entries in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, have yet to be announced, although there are a number in consideration, including BMW’s Formula E star Antonio Felix da Costa.
