Ryan Briscoe will join Floyd Vanwall Racing Team in place of Joao Paulo de Oliveira for the FIA World Endurance Championship finale in Bahrain.

The Australian driver will turn his first racing laps behind the wheel of the No. 4 Vanwall Vandervell 680 during the eight-hour race at Bahrain International Circuit, sharing the car with Esteban Guerrieri and Tristan Vautier.

De Oliveira, who joined the Colin Kolles-run team at the 6 Hours of Fuji, is unable to compete at the Bahrain finale due to clashing commitments in Japan.

“I’m pleased to be joining the team for the final round of the 2023 World Endurance Championship,” said Briscoe.

“I’d like to thank Dr Colin Kolles for the opportunity and look forward to my first laps in the Vandervell 680.”

Briscoe returns to the WEC grid for the first time since the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this year, which he contested with Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus.

It will be his first WEC start without the American squad, as all of his championship appearances since his 2021 debut were behind the wheel of the Glickenhaus 007 Pipo.

“Ryan is an excellent driver with a lot of experience in prototype racing cars” said Kolles.

“With Esteban, Tristan and Ryan we have a strong line up for the last event of the 2023 FIA WEC season.”
