Ferrari has signed Lilou Wadoux to its factory GT driver lineup ahead of an FIA World Endurance Championship GTE-Am campaign with AF Corse.
The 21-year-old Frenchwoman is the first female driver to become part of the Italian manufacturer’s Competizione GT roster.
After a season in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup, Wadoux made her WEC debut last year with LMP2 squad Richard Mille Racing.
She shared an Oreca 07 Gibson with Charles Milesi and rally champion Sebastien Ogier at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking a ninth-place finish on her event debut.
Wadoux then became the first female driver to get behind the wheel of an LMH prototype when she sampled a Toyota GR010 Hybrid at the end-of-season rookie test.
During the test in Bahrain, Wadoux also turned laps in a Ferrari 488 GTE Evo which is the same type of car she will pilot in the WEC this year.
Ferrari has confirmed that the Silver-rated driver will form part of the Richard Mille AF Corse lineup in the GTE-Am class, teaming up with Bronze-rated competitor Luis Perez Companc and a third driver who is yet to be announced.
“I am thrilled and incredibly proud to join the Ferrari family,” Wadoux said.
“Becoming an official driver is a dream come true and brings great responsibility. However, hard work always pays off, and I will do my best to repay the people who have believed in me from the outset.
“This new position is an important step in my young career, but I am ready to give my all and represent one of the world’s most famous marques.”
