The No. 5 Team LNT Ginetta G60-LT-P1 AER of Charlie Robertson, Ben Hanley and Jordan King ended the first Free Practice session for the 8 Hours of Bahrain on top.

Hanley set a 1:44.791 lap time early on in the 90-minute afternoon session to claim the fastest time, but the car spent most of the remaining time in the garage, only completing 11 laps in total.

Gustavo Menezes put the No. 1 Rebellion R13 Gibson into second ahead of both Toyota Gazoo Racing machines, with the best of the Toyota TS050 Hybrids being the No. 8 car, 2.6 seconds off the pace.

United Autosports was fastest in LMP2 with the No. 22 Oreca 07 Gibson of Phil Hanson, Filipe Albuquerque and Paul Di Resta in front of the No. 42 Cool Racing entry.

Porsche held sway at the head of the GTE-Pro class, the No. 91 Porsche 911 RSR of Gianmaria Bruni, who set the time, and Richard Lietz leading the sister car and the AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evos.

Both GTE-Pro Aston Martin Racing Vantage GTEs were slower than the quickest GTE-Am car, which was the No. 90 TF Sport Aston Martin.

Across all four classes, the fastest times were set in the beginning part of the session.

There was a brief Full Course Yellow with 30 minutes remaining to recover debris at Turn 8. However other than that, the session run without interruption.

Free Practice 2 starts at 6:30 p.m. local time.
