Romain Grosjean has been named a factory Lamborghini driver, with the Swiss-French open-wheel ace set to make his Rolex 24 at Daytona debut next month in an Iron Lynx Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 ahead of development and race duties with the manufacturer’s new LMDh car.

The 36-year-old, who will remain a full-time driver at Andretti Autosport in the NTT IndyCar Series, will join fellow Lamborghini works drivers Andrea Caldarelli, Mirko Bortolotti and a fourth, yet-to-be-announced driver for the Rolex 24 in a GTD Pro class entry run by the new Iron Lynx partnership.

Grosjean will also contest additional GT3 endurance events next year, with his full program to be announced at a later date.

Additionally, he along with Caldarelli and Bortolotti will serve as test drivers for Lamborghini Iron Lynx’s yet-to-be-named LMDh car that’s set to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races beginning in 2024.

“It’s an honor to be joining Lamborghini; it’s such an iconic brand for everyone who loves cars, including myself and my kids,” Grosjean said.

“On top of that, I am very excited about two things: the first is starting in Daytona with the GT3 which has been very successful in Daytona and a really good team like Iron Lynx and teammates around me, so that is going to be a nice discovery for myself.

“And then, later in the year developing the new LMDh which is a beautiful car – I’m lucky to have seen it – and an incredible project in endurance.

“It’s becoming a very exciting category with all the constructors coming. With Lamborghini being such a successful brand, I hope we can do well in the future.”

While known for his success in single-seaters, Grosjean also holds previous GT racing experience, having contested the FIA GT1 World Championship and also competing in the 24 Hours of Spa in 2010.

“We are very proud to welcome Romain Grosjean to the Lamborghini family, for this new and exciting period in the history of Squadra Corse,” said Lamborghini Motorsport boss Giorgio Sanna.

“He’s a driver with a huge amount of experience in various categories over the years and will be able to add a great deal of value to both our GT3 program but more importantly, the development of our LMDh car as well.

“I am looking forward to seeing Romain out on track in Daytona which will hopefully be the start of a very successful partnership going forward.”

Iron Lynx team principal, Andrea Piccini added: “Romain is a great addition to the team. Since we last raced together in 2010, Romain has gone on to achieve brilliant things in both Formula 1 and IndyCar, showing himself to be a driver of great caliber, who always rises to the occasion.

“As a true, natural born racer, he is an uncompromising driver who is not afraid to make bold moves on track and is one of the greatest talents of the recent F1 era.

“We expect Romain to be battling hard for every place and point throughout the season.”
