Hanson Gets Ferrari Contract Extension

Ferrari has announced it has extended Phil Hanson’s factory driver contract ahead of this weekend’s Lone Star Le Mans round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Hanson first joined the Ferrari fold last year when he replaced Robert Shwartzman in the lineup for the Prancing Horse’s third-string No. 83 AF Corse 499P alongside Robert Kubica and Yifei Ye, winning that year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Briton and his co-drivers finished second in that year’s WEC standings, and he earned factory Ferrari status for 2026 off the back of that season.

Hanson, Kubica and Ye sit ninth at the halfway point of the current season with a best finish of fifth place in the most recent race in Sao Paulo.

Ferrari’s global head of endurance Antonello Coletta commented: “On the eve of the 2026 Lone Star Le Mans, we are delighted to announce the extension of the contractual agreement with Phil Hanson, a driver who joined the Ferrari official driver family at the beginning of the current season, continuing a professional career that had already seen him race the 499P from 2025.

“Since his debut with the Prancing Horse, Phil has provided a valuable contribution, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans on his debut as a Ferrari driver, together with his teammates in the number 83 crew fielded by AF Corse. An unforgettable achievement, which brought Ferrari its third consecutive victory in the classic French endurance race.”
