Jackie Chan DC Racing will run an all-Malaysian LMP2 driver lineup in the 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship season.
Nabil Jeffri, Afiq Ikhwan Yazid and Weiron Tan will join the previously confirmed Jazeman Jaafar at the Jota Sport-run team, in one of its two full-season Oreca 07 Gibsons.
Yazid, Tan and Jaafar won the Buriram round of the 2017-18 Asian Le Mans Series together in a DC Racing Oreca 05 Nissan (pictured above), while ex-Formula 2 racer Jeffri appeared in the same championship with Eurasia Motorsport.
The deal to run an all-Malaysian car was established through a two-year partnership between the team and Sepang International Circuit.
The new signings will become the first Malaysians to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans since ex-Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong in 2007.
Sportscar365 understands that one of the four confirmed drivers will act as a reserve during the ‘Super Season.’
“We put them in the WEC expecting them to perform exceptionally well and try to aim for a win,” said Datuk Razlan Razali, CEO of Sepang International Circuit.
“The investment is huge. We have got them a formidable team in Jackie Chan DC, who finished 1-2 in the LMP2 race in last year’s Le Mans.
“We certainly have faith in Jazeman, Weiron, Afiq and Nabil. They did very well in the Asian series and I hope to see them doing the same in the WEC.”
The team’s sister Oreca will include team regular Ho-Pin Tung, while the identities of the two remaining drivers are yet to be revealed.
