Kristensen Sets Pace in Saturday Morning Test

Audi jumped back to top of the time sheets at The Prologue, with Tom Kristensen leading the way in the first test session of the day on Saturday.

The nine-time Le Mans winner reeled off a best lap of 1:43.017 in his No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, outpacing the No. 14 Porsche 919 Hybrid of Romain Dumas by 0.324 seconds.

Porsche’s sister entry, driven by Brendon Hartley was third quickest in the four-hour session with a 1:43.344 lap.

None of the LMP1 competitors managed to improve on their times set on Friday, however, which sees Hartley’s 1:41.289 as the quickest of the weekend so far.

LMP2 was paced by the No. 27 SMP Racing Oreca 03 Nissan of Nicolas Minassian, who edged out teammate Kril Ladygin by 0.334 seconds. Roman Rusinov made it a Russian squad sweep of the top three, placing his G-Drive Racing Morgan Nissan third on the time sheets.

Marco Holzer led the way in GTE-Pro aboard his No. 92 Porsche Team Manthey Porsche 911 RSR, while newcomer Matthieu Vaxiviere managed to take his No. 75 Prospeed Competition Porsche 911 GT3RSR to within four-tenths of the factory Porsche to go quickest in GTE-Am.

A final three-hour session is set to get underway at 2 p.m. local.
