The race date for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s new event in Mexico City has been changed, with the Six Hours of Mexico City now set for Sat., Sept. 3 instead of the previously announced Sept. 4.
The change, announced by the WEC two days after the release of the confirmed 2016 calendar by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, results in an expected shift of on-track activities to begin Thurs. Sept. 1, instead of the Friday.
According to the event promoter, the date change was made in order to better accommodate a planned after-race party/concert on Saturday evening.
It will mark the fourth regular-season WEC race to be held on a Saturday, joining the events at Spa-Francorchamps, Circuit of The Americas and Bahrain.
