The start time for the Qatar 1812km has been moved back by two hours, in an adjustment confirmed by the FIA World Endurance Championship on Wednesday.

Originally set to get underway at 12 p.m. local time, the race will now run from 2 p.m. until as late as midnight, if the maximum ten-hour time limit is fulfilled.

“In recognition of cultural and religious considerations, and in light of the race timing relative to the start of Ramadan, a decision has been made to adjust the start time of the Qatar 1812km,” a statement from the WEC read.

Last year’s inaugural round in Qatar started at 11 a.m. although was not held during the Muslim religious holiday, which begins on the evening of Friday Feb. 28 this year, the same day as the WEC season opener.
