Quinn Hoping to Take “Next Step” With Peugeot

Alex Quinn said he’s hoping to take the “next step” with Peugeot in landing a race seat within the French squad’s FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar program.

The 25-year-old Englishman, who was named this year as an official test and reserve driver, got his first experience of the LMH-based 9X8 prototype in last year’s Bahrain rookie test and was also part of the team’s pre-Le Mans endurance test at Portimao in the spring.

Sportscar365 understands that Quinn, who won this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 Pro-Am class, is in the mix to land a race seat next year amid an expected driver lineup shuffle.

While denying that any decision has already been made, Quinn said he already feels at home with the team.

“I enjoy driving that car,” he told Sportscar365. “It was really cool to get my first experience in it in March at a 24-hour test in Portimao. It was good to be mixing it with their current drivers as a good benchmark.

“It went really well in working with the team and the engineers.

“Obviously I’m there now as a reserve driver but getting into the family spirit of the team is something I really enjoyed and getting on with them really well.”

Quinn, however, didn’t hide his desire of one day taking the next step in his career in being part of the race lineup.

“Of course, that’s what we all want, I think, and that’s what hopefully we’ll work towards,” he said. “Whether it will be possible, we’ll have to wait and see.

“For now I’m just enjoying being there and taking every day as it comes.”

New-for-2026 team principal Emmanuel Esnault has given Quinn high marks, even going as far to say he believes ‘he’s ready’ to for a race seat.

Quinn has been tipped to replace Malthe Jakobsen, who has been long-linked to a seat with McLaren, with Jean-Eric Vergne also set to rejoin the team next year in place of Stoffel Vandoorne, who is reported to shift his entire focus back to Formula E.

Despite the media reports, Quinn said he’s staying focused on his current task at hand, which includes dual IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and European Le Mans Series LMP2 programs.

“Speaking to [Peugeot], they’re always so positive and the determination they have is really impressive,” he said. “I’ve no doubt that the progress will continue.

“I just hope I can be a part of that. For a young driver like myself, it’s the step we all want to take. It almost, in some ways, feels like a bit of a dream to be involved in it.

“And I’m not even an official driver. Hopefully one day we can take that step.

“It’s something that makes me happy. You work so hard to be involved with people like that and when you get an [opportunity], I’m just enjoying it to be honest.”
