Will Stevens will remain with G-Drive Racing for next weekend’s Six Hours of Shanghai, retaining the team’s LMP2 class-winning lineup from the last round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The 25-year-old Englishman will again team up with Alex Brundle and Roman Rusinov, as Stevens fills in for Rene Rast, whose wife is due to give birth to their first child.
Rast will return to the Jota Sport-run No. 26 Oreca 05 Nissan for the season-ending Six Hours of Bahrain next month.
“I am really looking forward to following up our great result at Fuji with another positive result in China next weekend,” Stevens said.
“The LMP2 class is super competitive this year but G-Drive Racing has shown on numerous occasions it can be conducting the pace and put winning performances together.
“I was proud to play a big part in that process at Fuji, and now we can kick-on and hopefully be in just as good a position to replicate the success at Shanghai.”
Jota Sport team principal Sam Hignett added: “We have found two gems in René and Will this season and are lucky that they have fitted in and been super quick from the first moment they sat in the car.
“Of course, we wish René and his partner all the best with their impending arrival and much happiness for the future.”
