Will Stevens will make his return to the FIA World Endurance Championship, subbing for Rene Rast in next month’s Six Hours of Fuji.
The ex-Formula One driver was confirmed Wednesday as Rast’s replacement in the No. 26 Oreca 05 Nissan, with the Audi factory driver having been called up to compete in the DTM season finale at Hockenheim on the same weekend.
Stevens will team with Roman Rusinov and Alex Brundle in the LMP2 contender, having driven for the team at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as a replacement for Nathanel Berthon.
“I really enjoyed my time with the team at Le Mans where we showed we could mount a strong challenge for a potential victory,” Stevens said.
“Fuji is a new circuit for me but one which I think we will have a very strong package in the G-Drive Racing Oreca 05 Nissan.”
Jota Sport team principal Sam Hignett added: “The choice was made easy for us after Rene was called up for DTM duty.
“We know Will and he evidenced at Le Mans that he learns quickly and understands the team ethic we race by.”
