Toyota topped the time sheets in opening practice as FIA WEC teams prepare for Saturday’s season-ending Six Hours of Bahrain.
The No. 7 Toyota TS030 Hybrid of Alex Wurz reeled off a best time of 1:43.192 in the 90-minute session, outpacing the LMP1 competition by nearly 1.5 seconds.
Audis ended up second and third quickest in the session, with the No. 1 entry of Benoit Treluyer setting a 1:44.617, ahead of the No. 2 entry of newly crowned champions Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Loic Duval.
LMP2 was paced by the No. 24 OAK Racing Morgan-Nissan of Olivier Pla, Alex Brundle and David Heinemeier Hansson with a best time of 1:52.389.
Aston Martin Racing led the way in both GTE-Pro and GTE-Am, thanks to quick times by Darren Turner (No. 97) and Nicki Thiim (No. 95).
