The race-contending Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo has retired from the Hankook 24H Dubai with just five hours to go.

Rik Breukers brought the No. 77 Lamborghini into the garage with what the Dutchman described as a “serious problem” diagnosed by engineers.

The British squad’s run is now over after being the closest challenge to the pair of Team WRT Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evos throughout the running.

Breukers was in third at the time of the suspected mechanical issue.

It has promoted the No. 4 Abu Dhabi Racing by HRT Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Raffaele Marciello back into a podium position, followed by the No. 75 SunEnergy1 by SPS Automotive Performance Mercedes, which is currently being driven by Mikael Grenier in fourth.

The No. 7 MS7 by WRT Audi continues to lead the race up front, now in the hands of Dries Vanthoor.
