Nesov Tops Incident-Free 24H Dubai Warmup

Alexey Nesov set the pace in a trouble-free warmup session for the 20th Michelin 24H Dubai.

The No. 92 Porsche 911 GT3 R, which is set to start the race from pole position, posted a 1:58.036 to beat the No. 11 Hofor Racing Mercede-AMG GT3 of Alexander Prinz by 0.607 seconds.

Kalle Rovanpera was third behind the wheel of the No. 969 Proton Huber Competition Porsche 911 GT3 R, leading the No. 4 Haupt Racing team Mercedes-AMG piloted by Salman Owega.

BMW factory driver Max Hesse completed the overall top five behind the wheel of the No. 777 Al Manar Racing by Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO, ahead of the GTX-leading No. 710 Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 in the hands of Brendon Leitch.

Lawrence Tomlinson, meanwhile, went quickest in GT4 by posting a 2:09.676 aboard the No. 495 Team CMR Ginetta G56 GT4 EVO.

Under half the field took part in the warmup session, with 26 cars entered into the race setting a time.

The 20th running of the Michelin 24H Dubai gets underway at 1 p.m. GST (4: a.m. ET).
