Proton Huber Competition took pole position for this weekend’s Michelin 12H Misano by a narrow margin of just 0.014 seconds from RedAnt Racing.
The Pro-Am class entered-No. 73 Porsche 911 GT3 R shared by Jorg Dreisow, Manuel Lauck, Klaus Bachler and Constantin Dressler gained the upper hand in a tight qualifying battle when Bachler posted the best lap of 1:32.548 in Q3.
This gave the No. 73 crew an average time of 1:33.586, which was just enough to best the 1:33.600 average of the No. 93 RedAnt Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Yannick and Ayrton Redant, Kobe de Breucker and Kenneth Heyer.
Qualifying third, and best of the Am runners, was the No. 69 Simpson Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II of Vasily Vladykin, Andrey Solukovtsev and David Pogosian, with an average time exactly six tenths down on the Proton Huber Porsche.
Completing the top five were the No. 21 Haas RT Audi and the No. 56 Ferrari 296 GT3 belonging to Scuderia Praha.
Dwight Merriman caused a red flag when he suffered an off in the first part of qualifying aboard the No. 81 Era Motorsport Ferrari, with the car ending up eighth on the grid.
Nico Verdonck replaces Jake Hill in the Era lineup this weekend alongside Merriman, Kyle Tilley and Ryan Dalziel due to a clash with the BTCC.
Pole in the 992 class went to the No. 909 Red Camels-Jordans.nl entry, while the No. 421 Venture Mercedes-AMG GT4 took top honors in GT4 by virtue of being the only car entered in the class this weekend.
The 12H Misano is slated to begin on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. local time (3:30 a.m. EST) and, unlike the opening rounds of the 24H Series at Mugello and Spa that were split into two parts, will run as a single 12-hour race to the flag.
RESULTS: GT3/992, GTX, GT4
