Scherer Sport PHX beat Herberth Motorsport to first place at the overnight intervention for the Hankook 12H Monza.

After six and half hours of racing, the No.1 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II driven by Michael Doppelmayr, Pierre Kaffer and Elia Erhart held a lead of over a minute to Herberth’s No. 91 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

A combination of an early pitstop and good timing with a Code 60 caution period allowed the Audi to take the lead, ultimately leading 86 out of 188 laps completed.

Herberth’s Porsche, which started the race from pole and is being driven by Daniel Allemann, Ralf Bohn, Alfred Renauer and Robert Renauer, saw a lead of nearly a lap dashed by a pair of 10-second time penalties for pit lane infringements.

They finished the first segment in second, with the No. 15 BMW Italia Ceccato Racing BMW M4 GT3 of Leonardo Sanchez Secundino, Atila Abreu and William Thomas Freire completing the top three.

The No. 21 HAAS RT Audi recovered from a precautionary tire change and a 90-second penalty for exceeding the maximum refueling amount to finish fourth, ahead of the No. 90 E2P Racing Porsche driven by Javier Morcillo, Pablo Burguera  and Antonio Sainero.

An early puncture saw the No. 85 CP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo drop down the order, but Charles Putman, Charles Espenlaub, Joe Foster and Shane Lewis recovered to sixth ahead of the No. 8 Kessel Racing Ferrari 296 GT3.

GT4 was led by the No. 403 Atlas BX Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Steven Cho, Roelof Bruins, Jongkyum Kim, Taekeun Yang and Donggi Noh.

They held a five-lap cushion over the No. 421 Team ACP – Tangerine Associates BMW M4 GT3, with Buggyra ZM Racing completing the top three in class.

The remaining 5,5 hours of the Hankook 12H Monza start Sunday at 10:30 a.m. CEST (4:30 a.m. ET).
