The expansion of sports car racing in Asia continues, with the announcement of the China GT Championship, which will kick off next month.
A press conference was held at Beijing’s Goldenport Motor Park this week to present the series, which will run exclusively on Pirelli tires. The Pirelli P Zero (DH and DHC) will be utilized, the same compounds seen in GT3 championships across Europe and North America.
GT3 cars will be eligible in the series, as well as Cup cars such as the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo, Porsche 997 GT3 Cup, 991 Cup, Audi R8 LMS Cup and Aston Martin Vantage GT4.
Goldenport Motor Park will host the opening round on June 9-11, with races in Shanghai (July 29-31), Chengdu (Sept. 2-4) and Zhuhai (Oct. 28-30) also planned.
