The Canadian Touring Car Championship has added a GT4 class that will join its existing TCR and GT Sport categories for the 2021 season.

An agreement between SRO Motorsports Group and RACE Events Inc. has been reached that will bring the officially licensed formula to Canada’s CTCC powered by Pirelli championship.

The deal is separate of the efforts of the newly announced FEL Sports Car Championship Canada, which is understood to still be pursuing licenses for GT4 and TCR.

“We are honored that Stéphane Ratel, founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports, has chosen CTCC and entrusted its brand with us,” said series general manager Dominique Bondar.

“Our relationship with SRO began years ago and today and now we are delighted to be part of the SRO community formally. This is fantastic news for CTCC and the development of motorsport in Canada.”

CTCC’s team of officials have already begun to examine GT4 specifications to ensure Balance of Performance is “maintained” throughout the upcoming season.

The series has yet to announce its 2021 calendar.
