Jusuf Owega set the quickest time in the second DTM Free Practice session at the Lausitzring, outpacing Lucas Auer to lead a Mercedes-AMG 1-2.

Owega steered the No. 84 Mercedes-AMG Team BWT Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to a best lap of 1:20.780.

It marked the quickest time across all of Friday’s running, comparing strongly to the 1:20.939 set by Franck Perera to top Free Practice 1.

Lucas Auer came second in the No. 22 Team Winward machine, down on Owega’s quickest time by 0.122 seconds.

Kelvin van der Linde placed his No. 3 ABT Sportsline Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II in the top three for the second consecutive session by taking third, ahead of Maro Engel.

Jack Aitken completed the top five aboard the No. 14 Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3, just 0.022 seconds clear of teammate Thierry Vermeulen in sixth place.

Ricardo Feller slotted into seventh ahead of the No. 1 Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 driven by Sheldon van der Linde.

Luca Engstler and Luca Stolz rounded out the top ten aboard the No. 8 Audi and No. 4 Mercedes, respectively.

In contrast to the first Free Practice session, which was interrupted by a full course yellow and a late red flag for a stranded Clemens Schmid, the afternoon session ran without any interruptions.

Qualifying for the first DTM race of the weekend starts Saturday at 9:05 a.m. CEST (3:05 a.m. EDT).

RESULTS: Free Practice 2
