Flying Lizard Motorsports will make its first start with Toyo Tires in December’s 25 Hours of Thunderhill, still with its Audi R8 LMS.

The team spent the 2015 season working closely with Toyo Tires for tire development in hopes of clinching a win for the No. 45 Toyo Tires/Flying Lizard Audi R8 LMS this December.

Flying Lizard ran five rounds in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship this season with the Audi, as well as a full season in World Challenge with its McLaren 650S GT3s.

Drivers will be announced in mid-November for the race, which runs December 5-6.

The team returns the event after a several-year hiatus. It competed at Thunderhill in 2003, when it finished third in the race.

Flying Lizard crew chief Tommy Sadler has participated as both a crew member and a driver, earning four wins, three of which were overall.

In the past three years, Toyo Proxes tires have earned 25 podiums in this event.

“We are honored to partner with Flying Lizard Motorsports for this event. As one of the most well-known and successful teams in sports car racing, their experience and professionalism are second to none,” said Marc Sanzenbacher, senior manager, motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp.

“We are confident that the industry leading performance of our Toyo Proxes race products are a perfect match for the Audi R8 LMS, as both tires and racecar have proven themselves in numerous endurance racing events worldwide.”

“We are very proud to announce this partnership with Toyo Tires for the 25 Hours of Thunderhill,” added Flying Lizard Program Manager Darren Law.

“Flying Lizard has had many successes in several different series over the years, but have never won the Thunderhill event as a team entrant.”
